The new Dell's have no AC3 decoding, unless you use the Quadrant card...

From your link:
"The ATI Rage Pro Turbo video controller also includes enhanced motion compensation for DVD playback. Digital Dolby AC-3 sound for DVD playback is available when the DVD-ROM drive and Quadrant decoder card are installed in the system. The AGP 2X bus is capable of a theoretical maximum data transfer rate of 533 MB/sec."

They also said:
"Software decoding will be available later in 1998"
:-(

DVD Rom and decoder card is $138 more
DVD Rom and software decoding is $59 more

Took the basic system with a real PentiumII and added the DVD with HW option for a total of only $1805 with 17" monitor.

configured as I'd take one is $2220 Wow!
(128mb Ram, 13.6 gig drive, 17" Trinitron, HW DVD)

Wish I could drop the Keyboard, mouse and all the software though. ;-)

Yea, J. You beat me to it. Just keep it up. I looked at the Dell site for about 15 minutes, before I found it.

I was going to tell David that Dell says so. You guys are pretty chatty for a Saturday. Is it because Ohio State has a week off. Thanks.........

Audio Subsystem
The audio subsystem in the Dell Dimension V series includes either an integrated Yamaha DS-1 PCI-based 64-voice audio chip (integrated on the system board optimized for home use) or a PCI-based Turtle Beach Montego A3D plug-in audio card (included with the system board optimized for business use). Both audio controllers support Digital Dolby AC-3 sound when used with the DVD-ROM drive and the Quadrant International CineMaster C-1.2D decoder card.
