Hi Ken (nice name! ;-)

After you have spent 3 months trying to uncover that obscure 'bug' that you coded in, it turns out to be a valuable loss of time and resources, IMHO!

Most consumers will not write their own code. Red Hat and other distributors grew up in the Linux industry, by taking good code that others had written and packaging it together into a coherent whole.

I don't know a whole lot about Linux; I work with NT. But I know I'm going to need to learn a lot more about it, because I want to run my human backup business (see Message 5779784 ) on a stable operating system.

Cheers,
KenB

RE: Fixin' bugs

Yeah, but some systems programmers really like to fix their own bugs. Gives them a sense of accomplishment, a feeling of gaining on entropy, or something. Anyway, at its slowest, it may be quicker than waiting for Microsoft to fix their bugs.
