Lee, I think that the main trigger would be the Nikkei falling apart and with it many other markets in Asia. In coincidence with that event, I believe that we are going to get a torrent of "pre-announcements" in the first two weeks of October as company get a first insight to their end of quarter revenues. This two could be amplified by the October "malaise". I do not think that job displacement or devaluation in China and Honk Kong will occur in the near future, so I do not count these as "parameters".

Last, if my counter-intuitive assumption that the FED's may not relax next week, it surely could serve as a catalyst to bring the markets closer (within 200 or 200 points) to the lows around 7400, preping these for a real hit to the low 7000 and possibly lower.
