The network is the computer. What better slogan?

It's funny to watch MSFT hold up Linux (free Unix) as proof of a Crapware non-monopoly. It's funny because on one hand it's so obviously outrageous with regard to what's apparent in the market, and on the other hand, it's actually TRUE! :)

I really do believe though that we'll have seen $70 come and go before Jan '99.

This 'Linux as a first step to Solaris' thing is something I've been following quite closely over the past 6 months or so. The Sun involvement with Linux International and the direct development support for Linux on Sparc are clues as to how the whole Linux phenom plays into the overall Unix mindshare (read: Solaris) scheme of things.

Of all the good things dropped into Sun's lap of late, this Unix Renaissance from the bottom up (Linux) is the most profound for the future of SUNW.

As a long term holder of wintel+sunw, I was shocked to see SUnw perormed better then WINTEL in a long run and a short run..

i overlayed 20days (2 days before the mini crash, who popped up first? )
charts of csco dell intc sunw emc ibm msft.

sunw is beating even dell and csco. the best performer is sunw then intel.
exchange2000.com.
i was quite surprised and always thought msft was a better long term performer
in my portfolio.
LONG TERM best performer is sunw vs. msft intc cpq hwp ibm
50 months charts sunw still beats all even msft, in a long term

sunw msft intc cpq hwp ibm (these are workstations /server companies comps).

this is not about oct earnings....this is sunw stock price catching up with historical fundamentals that it's not been paid for.

earning will boost the stock more....
