No you weren't wrong. It is called the Pacific Stock Exchange which closes some time (I am not sure how much) later than the NYSE. It is strange, however, that the rather steep drop in price occurred considering the price action during the earlier part of the day on the NYSE.

As for the PE, I don't drive looking at my rear view mirror and stocks are, in general, not evaluated on trailing earnings. Based upon the current consensus for next years (1999) earnings, the PE is about 33. See Zacks for data details. Again based upon their current estimated growth rate, I would say EMC is priced just about right.
