I think your post accurately describes the market - no clear direction.

I think the market will head much lower, but I am fully invested in a money market fund rather than short or long. I see a great deal of risk being in the market on either side. I think its best to collect interest until the market shows its hand.

I doubt that the market will gap up Mon. or Tues., but instead will be flat awaiting the Federal Reserve meeting Tuesday. Furthermore, I believe the market has already factored in a 1/4 point decrease and probably a 1/2 point decrease in interest rates. Unless we get something greater than a 1/2 point decrease, the market will likely sell-off. The next market mover will focus on pre-announcement of third quarter earnings. Unfortunately, most of these will be negative, thus putting more downward pressure on stock prices.

don and herring--

i dont knwo about you guys, but when there is this much uncertainty there is usually a big move in one direction or the other. given all the negativity world wide, and the potential for further problems, to me a downside movement looks most likely.

i think we will hit and fail a test of 7400 by thursday.

good luck to all,
trey
