Hi dougjn; That argument that the only crimes the POTUS
can be impeached for are crimes associated with his high
office is clearly incorrect.

Judges and such are regularly impeached for stuff like
drunk driving and what not. There is plenty of case history
of impeachments, but not for impeachments of the POTUS.
I suppose we should be glad of this, that the presidency
has not generally been filled by denizens as slimy as the
current inhabitant...

In addition, since the constitution clearly prevents the
POTUS from being indicted by the court system, it would
not be possible to punish the POTUS for killing his children,
for instance, as this would not be a crime associated with
how he fills his office.

More on the same:

I suppose you could get him out of office if he became
insane. I believe that after the Nixon affair, they added
some sort of technique for getting rid of an insane guy.

Some of Clinton's activities seem to come under neurotic
behaviour, but not quite insane... Exposing the country to
the danger of blackmail in the highest office of the land,
due to sexual addiction is what we are talking about here.

And he delivered the goods to Monica when she threatened
him. Rumor is that he has delivered the goods to many
other bimbo eruptions. See the previous posting on this
thread...

You just wasted about 1000 words of BS because the whole mess was based on an obviously false premise - Clinton is charged with minor crimes. No worse than drunken driving.

Perjury is an extremely serious crime. Federal judges are removed from office for it. Normal people are prosecuted for it and pay fines and go to jail. Obstruction of justice is even more serious.

The plain fact is that if Bill Clinton wasn't President he'd be indicted and prosecuted tomorrow on the evidence presented so far.
