If it were possible to infect a computer with a virus simply by sending an e-mail all the author has to do is put New Virus Alert in the subject and everybody would open it and thereby be infected.
I'll say again, you cannot get a virus from opening and reading e-mail.

There is one significant error in the TELUS alert message. The program in question is not a virus. It can be classified as a Trojan, though, but in essence Back Orifice is not that different from many other remote-control programs like PCAnywhere, for example....it only hides its functionality from the "user"
