Ling, <What AMD try to do is very clear. They want to gain more
market share.> You must be absolutely correct.
Again, from Atiq Raza interview with "Maximum PC"
magazine:
".. with an installed base of 10 million units,
the software developers are very satisfied. In
fact, we have more installed base than any single
graphics-adapter card. Software vendors are always
anxious to support 2Dfx's and nVidia's relatively
smaller installed base. We offer a much bigger
opportunity."

With regard to KNI: "We have a blanket cross-license
with Intel for all its patents. So if we choose to be
compatible with Katmai, we can be."

More:
"..Intel will be targeting Katmai at the high end
of the processor performance. We'll be taking
2DNow! from top-to-bottom".

Regards,
- Ali

Ling - Re: "Because software company will take good care of AMD CPU based machine. They will support 3DNow to take advantage of AMD CPU. "

Only one problem - what software companies are "taking care" of AMD ?

3DNOW is only supported by a couple of game makers.
