Slot 1 was supposed to kill the socket7. Did it? Hell no. Taiwan is currently producing 47% socket 7 MB vs 53% slot 1 MB. Why wasn't slot1 a runaway success? Because Intel is abandoning slot1 on Celeron and go for the socket 370.
