Ground Zero, >>>>>>>>> Yet, since everyone is expecting a selloff, it may not occur. <<<<<<<<<<<<< Your comment somewhat surprises me. As you are aware I am more bearish than I am bullish, so I have spoken to many of my friends who are small investors telling them to be cautious. I believe that they are the average investor who mainly invest in mutual funds/the nifty 50. The normal response I get is that the correction is over and I dont know what Im talking about. And with the Greenspan talks, they feel more comfortable now that the end of the troubles have arrived and that we are heading up now similar to that of the OCT 87 correction. Most of them has bought stock recently after the drop to 7400, and guess which stocks they bought - DELL/MSFT/GE/AMZN/YHOO/AOL/MRK/AHP/. I am not talking just a few people either. Most of them do repeat what most of the analysts are saying that the bottom is in and few believe that there will be a retest of 7400. Most do say that they are cautious, so they are not buying as much as they could, but they also say that buying the above stocks is how they are being cautious. So the question is are these people the norm or the exception. So far they are right since the XCI(computer index) and DRG index(which those stocks fall into) are near their all-time highs. But most of them bought those stocks within the last 2 weeks, none near the 7500 mark on the DOW. To say that everyone is expecting a selloff - most of the people I speak to, outside of SI, are saying we are moving up, but they agree with the caution issue so they are now only buying smaller amounts of DELL/YHOO/AOL/MRK/etx. I only see that strong bearish sentiment on SI not with the average JOE. I do strongly believe that the SI readership is far more sophisticated than the average investor, but I could be wrong. Seeya
