Alex : Exactly. In fact, my own feeling about Elliott Waves is that they are like the Rorschach ink-blot tests for personality.

Any and every wave is precisely what one wants it to be. Nothing more and nothing less! (like in Alice in Wonderland). Clearly, the significance of all the waves resides in the mind of the beholder. If the observer is bullish, the waves agree with that opinion --- if the opinion is bearish then the waves confirm that, too. All that is necessary is to be able to count up to five, in threes!

I have no doubt that it is only a matter of time before the Elliott Wave Theory is acclaimed by "top" psychologists as a "breakthrough" in the understanding of the mind. Bullishness will, undoubtedly, be associated with sexual desire and bearishness will be an indication for Viagra! Don't laugh --- I'm serious.

I read somewhere that the "theory" was actually started as a bit of fun by an investment firm in Montreal. And, judging from the many devotees, it hasn't looked back!

In this day and age where it's impossible to separate science from science fiction and mysticism has now reached the same level of credibility, as it did in the Dark Ages, it's only to be expected that a "theory" like this has achieved such respectability and has attracted such a large following --- by apparently intelligent people.
