DangZhi Technologies has developed the M3309 MPEG II video decoder chip which has successfully passed stringent, long-term inspections by Japanese authorities and Dolby Laboratory. The chip comes in 160-pin and 176-pin formats and can be used for PCs, notebook computers and multi-media add-on cards. The chip went into production this July. The M3309 uses hardware image compression and software sound compression. It requires 0.6 W. The M3309 also supports applications that require PCI bus interface, UMI, AMC and ZV-port as well as having built-in CSS hardware module.
