Another OT Yes, Tony, I agree. This is "Another interesting story" [bailout of hedge funds] An IMPORTANT story, IMO --- THIS sure was ONE way of trying to "bring the existing instabilities to a level of stability reasonably shortly" (A.G.) --- I have to agree with Ken Guenther: The bailout "underscores the hypocrisy of those who advocate the free market." --- I also have to agree with "Other" -------(WHY QUOTE marks, but no ATTRIBUTION ??? --------- sleezy journalism. IMO) --- 'Others said that the Fed's involvement could backfire, creating a "moral hazard" in financial markets that would cause investors to take ever greater risks, secure in the knowledge that regulators would prevent a collapse.' IMO, From their choice of responses to this news story, the WSJ's perspective on the issue is pretty clear. In this case, the WSJ's slant matches my own bias. Regards, Cheryl

Tony, just saw another interesting slant on the hedge fund story from an SI poster, another Henry - Message 5828768 ---------------- To this greenhorn, the above post sounds logical, if a <ii>bit optimistic. But in a response post, someone name-called at Henry V. Seattle Seahawks vs Pittsburg Steelers ---Pittsburg favored by NFL "analysts" --- because Seattle (3-0) played marshmallows in their last three games. BUT the Steelers' offense is weak IMO AND last week (against the Redskins) our defense scored more points than our offense. -- Nice combination in our favor, IMO, that the NFL spin doctors aren't counting on. -- Just watch those interceptions and sacks!!!
