I have been trying to point out is that Veeder Root Systems certainly thinks there is a large enough market to really advertise and push for acceptance of their products. In the EVDS booklet, that I hope you will be receiving soon, you will find that there are 2 million USTs and an additional 750,000 monitoring locations all subject to EPA control. This is a large market and simply upgrading a tank does not guarantee that a UST owner will be installing an accurate method of monitoring their tanks for potential leaks or keeping daily inventory records. Veeder Root Systems is the largest installer of in-tank measurement devices with an estimated 30,000 tank installations. Veeder Root Systems devices must be installed at the time that the tank is put in the ground or retrofitted with a major construction effort after the original installation. Because of the invasive nature of the installation, there is a very significant cost ranging from $6,000 on the low end to $28,000 on the high end. Arizona Instrument is the second largest competitor with something less than half the Veeder Root Systems installations. Arizona Instrument also has a device that must be installed at the time of installation or as a retrofit. This system involves probes that are embedded in the ground and are used as snifters to detect a leak or release of motor fuel. The cost of the system is approximately $25,000 including the cost of business interruption. Environmental Digital Services offers a substantial cost savings and has no retrofit problems as the device merely replaces the existing fill pipe cap. The cost to the tank owner is $500 for the first tank and $400 thereafter. Since the average per location is four tanks, the average comparable cost for the EVDS system is $1750. For EPA daily reporting purposes, an inventory system can be added for an additional cost of $450. Colleen there is a huge market opportunity here for EVDS's CAPSCAN. InvestRight Regards, Jeff
