McMannis - Re: " but Intel, playing the MHz game jerri-rigged the P-II to run at higher clockspeeds, jumped ahead again. AMD is just now closing the gap. "

Nice excuse !

How about 3.3 volt 233 MHz K6's when the 2.9 volts K6's couldn't run at 233 MHz but the 166 and 200 MHz K6's did ?

What do you call 95 MHz motherboards and 380 MHz CPUs from AMD?

Industry standards?

AMD is the "jerri-rigger" par excellence.

You are once again making up excuses and ignoring truth and reality.

Paul

Re: "What would you think if the K7 demoed on .18u running at 650 Mhz?
Also what if Motorola has been running the K7 for weeks now..."

I would say that leaves them 154 mhz behind what Intel has already demoed on .25u. .18u should go even higher that that without chilling. I would also say that Intel has no need to show what else they have while AMD must give potential vendors some reason to believe. Let them demo one, you don't sell demos, you sell products.

Jim, <if the K7 demoed on .18u>
Raza said in "Maximum PC" interview:

"there will be a 0.18-micron K7, but when K7
launches it will still be in 0.25 micron."

Therefore, no need to guess here.

About the speed of K7 at launch, Raza said:
"Higher than 500MHz". The real question
is: how higher? 504 as for Katmai?

So the bottom line is: 0.25um and 500+ MHz.
What our "experts" are saying now about
"inferior" Idsat and Leff at AMD without having
a clue how the architectural design rules
affect the overall design? "Make it so, Yousef?"

Jim,

Re: "AMD should turn the quarter is just now ending. If they don't, well
we'll see."

What an accurate prediction, Jim ... Did you get new "chicken bones" ??
Yes Jim, there is always next quarter or maybe the quarter after that ... Now
I know why you are the CEO of a "hedge fund". <ggg> You wouldn't be kidding
us, would you Jim.

Make It So,
Yousef
