Arnie:

>>To say that the "old model" is a zero sum game is to say that you don't understand the so-called old model. The truth is that business has always been a wealth creating system in this country. How else can one explain the past wealth creating power of railroads, steel, autos, main frame computers, personal computers and, now, wireless
telephones and the internet.>>

Hate to argue Arnie, but to say that "business has always been a wealth creating system" is pretty shallow. You ought to know that monopolies are not extinct. These are "wealth hoarding" energy taking combines.

You are right on about "wealth creating power" of old. But you can't as easily draw the line to connect the dots in this information age we are racing through.

Capitalism is about creating wealth through a process in which customers are willing to pay a value-added which rewards innovation. We've done much better in this country than elsewhere thanks to our free spirit and rule of law, but the same can't be said for too many other places.

As for evidence the "old model" is dying, just look around the world Arnie. The entire rest of the world's been living in a fixed box defined and limited by political and economic powers that have endeavored to keep the old model going for too long.

I am worried that while this country is being pushed into this "new model" they long for the "old" to continue. Can they legislate limits on the internet?

Nextel is "new", the old Ma Bell is old. Every new wave of new growth and wealth has been defined by a breaking down of "old ways". Come on Arnie, principals are eternal, but reality changes. Look around you, you can't say we are still playing the same game.
