I think one should expect a slow down in sales. This is only natural.
I wouldn't be surprised if the number of iMacs sold in 30 days in september is the same as in 15 days in August. That would still give very good revenue figures for this quarter. If the slow down is any bigger than that then we are in trouble.

Is the ad campaign for the iMac picking up? This is what one would expect if sales had slowed down significantly. On the other hand Apple might be saving its ammo for a major blitz near X-mas....

Well Roy we're worried about essentially the same thing. If Apple has very high numbers but has increased inventory at the retailers, the street will likely punish them.

I'm surprised that Alomex doesn't have the same concerns I do. He's basing his projection on one very small survey of one chain that has apparently sold very few iMacs numbers wise. Rich

I walked into a local Apple store called The Computer Store recently, and there were over 30 iMacs sitting on the floor, and a number of G3 desktop units.

Hey that's where I bought my Moms iMac, right after the launch. They had a large iMac supply then also. But at the same time CompUSA was sold out and well into backorder. The Computer Store is a well established Apple only dealer and I suspect they probably got a lot more iMacs then most other places. And obviously, they don't have the exposure of CompuUSA. At least, that could be one explanation.
