- Upgrade to OS8.5 (I will upgrade my iMac during October), Not really. Apple is still benefiting from sales of OS 8.0. The new OS8.5 will only ensure that the revenue stream remains there. - Introduction of consumer portables, From Jobs comments that seems to be a couple of quarters away... - Introduction of new lines of Apple computers. This is just like the 8.0/8.5 situation. New lines of computers ensure that users keep upgrading, just as they seem to have done this year with G3s. I'd say Apple's best shot for a blowout quarter in Xmas is a one time deal $1150 iMac with VirtualPC and colour printer...
