JPR: I have found a 2 or three who has online trading and provide research on companies before investing any money.I am interested only in National Stock Exchange listed companies as this can be traded without physical transfer of stocks which is a cumbersome process.NSE listed stocks have paperless trading via a depository system and only reputable companies are listed here.My primary interest is in Software companies such as Infosys and a few others such as Reliance,Ranbaxy Pharma,TVS Suzuki etc.

One of the company's officers are all ex NRIs who have studied and worked overseas (USA & UK) and they are an institutional broker but they do take NRIs and Desis who have certain income levels.

Anyway I have asked them to give me some references from the U.S and also I am checking them out through my cousins who are located where these companies are at. If I find any of them reliable and if anybody is interested I can post the information here on the thread.

Besides equities in the secondary market one can also participate in IPOs,Government bonds and treasury notes,Corporate bonds etc and research report and credit ratings also will be provided.

Also Bank of Madura and UTI Securities (division of Unit Trust of India) have portfolio services along with some other banks.

Anyway I don't know whether I will open an account yet but I am doing some leg work at the moment if for nothing just for the information.
