Good Morning

FM CNNFN THIS AM

STOCKS: The stock market is overwhelmingly confident the Fed will cut rates on
Tuesday, and is beginning to increase its expectations on the size of the cut.
This sentiment is likely to remain a key underpinning factor. However worries
over hedge fund losses will throw some cold water on the market. As third
quarter earnings begin to stream in, traders will be bracing themselves for
further evidence of emerging markets damage to corporate earnings.

DOW: Closed Friday at 8028, up 26 points
NIKKEI: Closed at 13,909, up 186
FTSE: 5052.6, down 8.4
DAX: 4578.27, up 16.69
S AND P 500 Dec INDEX FUTURES: 1054.00, up 3.00

ENERGY: NYMEX Nov crude futures will likely trend higher given supportive
fundamentals such as the impact of Hurricane George on US Gulf oil
producers. However, many players still perceive some technical weakness.

IPE Sep crude $14.50, up 7c
NYMEX (Access) Oct crude $15.83, up 8c

METALS: Signs of further turmoil should buoy gold prices after safe haven
buying came as investors became spooked by the news of the bailout of
troubled Connecticut-based hedge fund Long-Term Credit Capital Management.

Gold at $293.25 vs $296.20 late in NY Thurs
