How about NN + Juniper instead of Ascend? Juniper has been getting some press lately, some say it's preening itself for Lucent's attention. Newbridge has also been positioning itself, selling off a division, getting its execs out there talking. Lucent can get the ATM from Newbridge and the core IP routing from Juniper (probably both for less than one Ascend). Still... I'm holding half my Ascend just in case LU bites the big one.
