Katherine,

The answer may very well be "quite frequently" with the Semi Equipment sector. Most of these stocks have a Beta significantly greater than 1. ... which means, in part, that from the bottom to the top in any given year, many of these stocks more than double the return of the S&P. And, certainly, on the way from the trough to the peak, almost all equipment stocks will double much more rapidly than the S&P.

The trick, for me at least, has been to recognize where in the stock's price cycle we're at, before it's too late to profit. :(

Ian.

If the stock has already lost half its value, then it has to double in price for you to get back to even. How often do your picks double in price? More rapidly than the S&P?
