Dwight, although it is true I have been working as a journalist, my bailiwick (Thank God!) is foreign affairs (to be more specific, developments in the former Soviet Union). I say "Thank God" because although I physically live "Inside the Beltway" when I'm not travelling, emotionally and intellectually I am more comfortable "Outside the Beltway." Washington is very much a company town, with its own little cliquish mystique, which does not appeal to me at all.

It is only recently that I have felt compelled to pay close attention to what is going on here. Do I like what I see? No. My general conclusion (which I think many rank-and-file Washingtonians share) is -- "a plague on all their houses!"

Is it true that they've had to double-team the janitorial staff to clean the Oval Office, so no young thing has to go in there alone?

Nice to see more holier-than-thou humor from the good Christian Dwight. No pompous moralizing here, no-sir-ree.

Double-teamed janitors? Clinton should be impeached for keeping an untidy office! ;-)
