Cyberstar Will Initiate Paid Broadband Service [Space News]

The transition to paid service is to begin in October for CyberStar L.P.'s broadband satellite system, which has been serving some clients on a test basis.

David Benton, spokesman for CyberStar parent Loral Space & Communications Ltd., said CyberStar hopes to begin generating revenue from all its current users by the end of 1998. Service currently is provided in Ku-band by the Telstar 5 satellite. Later, CyberStar plans to launch Ka-band satellites to improve its service.
