What I was trying to point out is that there is still the potential for such a conversion within this industry if one of the large players finds it beneficial. It appears at this juncture that IBM is in a position to benefit and would have the resources to make it happen.

That Intel and IBM are intimately tied together along other product lines, as pointed out by Rich, is probably the greatest argument against such a move by IBM.

Too bad. It would have been an excellent move for the consumer.
