Peppe --

I don't know what analysts were expecting. There were a couple mentions of large carriers holding the strings on timing of press releases, so perhaps they were expecting something from one of these. I do know the Ericsson deal was originally set to come out at the AGM and Ericsson pushed it forward.

Analysts generally focus on the coming quarter and their primary concerns have to do with meeting expectations. I'm more interested in long-term strategies and look for indications of strong technology and R&D, growth in strategic partnerships, management strength and, of course, contract wins. This time I was especially impressed with progress on the 50gig 36170, the ramp in manufacturing, and the increased RFP activity at Cambrian.

Incidentally, what's the status on LU and ASND? Is it possible the favorite may be misnamed?

It's a slow Monday and thought I should wake you up. :))

Time for coffee. Zinc, here I come!

Later --

Pat
