As you have gone Southwest on your life's journey you have left the salt belt behind. Also some of those vehicles you see now were kept running when people in that area who couldn't afford to buy a new a new car or truck and kept the old buggy running until it became a collectors item.

There was a rage a few years back of guys going to Kentucky and buying old "pony" engines from the 30's and 40's that had been used on the farms. As the Kentucky farmers finally modernized they no longer had use for them but they do make neat toys. One cylinder, gravity oil drip and the governor that controlled the spark instead of the gas. They were used in helping raise hay to the loft in the days before tractors with good PTOs and portable elevators.
