The education system in this country is about as flawed as the political system. Low standards, poor staff, strong union only interested in wielding their political clout and getting more paid time off, bigger pensions and controlling the supply of teachers.

Teachers are responsible for the "dumbing down of Americans" They don't care.

Sure, sure. It's the parents fault. You cannot blame the victims.
Two working parents, single parent heads of households. Schools need
to teach. They are not doing it. Dollar for dollar we are not getting
our money's worth. New math, progressive math, bilingual education,
Ebonics... If the AFT mandated 100% literacy for all 10th graders
it would get done. We don't need Washington enacting a "law" requiring basic literacy. They cannot even get a standard set of basic tests established nationwide. Teachers need to teach.
Parents need to parent.

There are enough stoopid Americans out there. This takes us back to
Chaz, Mgmt. has indicated that they would rather take better educated
foreign persons (basic education) for less money than lazy, dumb
Americans.
