A Reuters poll of U.S. economists Friday showed 27 of 28 expected a cut of at least a quarter percentage point in the federal funds rate, an overnight bank lending rate that is a benchmark for other short-term interest rates. Five experts looked for a cut of a half percentage point, a more dramatic move that many said Greenspan might support but that could face resistance from a few FOMC members known for their ''hawkish,'' or particularly inflation-wary views. dailynews.yahoo.com
