It's calculating personal criteria from the raw data on the stocks. It takes a while because it has to use data from the CD. You can turn this off when you update using the check box. I usually keep the option off during the day and then turn it back on when I update in the evening.

What you got for hardware? My updates take less than 3 minutes complete now that I've upgraded from a 200mhz with 64 megs to a 400 P-II with 64 meg. I'll probably jump to 128 megs with prices in the cellar. My Prev. system took about 4 minutes, so your 40 min update says either your ISP is overloaded, your modem is stone age (less than 33k, your RAM is inhibiting the data processing /update, or the cpu speed is choking. A few hundred bucks will get you a motherboard upgrade to 266 or 300 with 64; 33.6 modems are well under $50 nowdays. I've seen no improvements, however, by going to ISDN with Worden. 56K seems as good as they pump it out, at least as of a month or so ago. Good luck, watch the ads.

DD,

Note also as you start adding personal criteria it gets much slower. I added half a dozen basic scans and it quadrupled the update time.
