Hi Chris: The news release follows: but note the date and time of release and then note the date of the show. TFS certainly does not want to risk having any of us show up at the show ... you'd need a suborbital rocket to get yourself to the opening. OK, so you and I are not going to go, but a brokerage firm might like to have their Tokyo or Hong Kong analyst scoot over for a look at the scene .. but by this time that Tokyo rep has has a meeting set in Osaka and the Hong Kong guy has a golf date with someone in from Manilla. The good news is the quote from Dwight Nordstrom: it seems he is still around and that is nice to see: one more rumor shot dead. ______________ Monday September 28, 11:44 am Eastern Time Company Press Release Three-Five Systems to Exhibit Products in Far East TEMPE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--September 28, 1998--Three-Five Systems, Inc. (NYSE: TFS - news) announced its participation in Asia Display 98, a major trade show being held in Seoul, Korea, on September 29 - October 1, 1998. ''This event will provide us with an important opportunity to demonstrate our advanced liquid crystal display technologies to a large number of potential customers in the telecommunications, industrial and consumer electronics fields,'' said Dwight Nordstrom, Three-Five's Vice President and General Manager, Asia Pacific. This is the first time the company has participated in a Far East trade show. Nordstrom will represent the company, along with a number of sales personnel from both the U.S. and China. ''When we opened our production facility in Beijing earlier this year,'' Nordstrom said, ''we indicated that our main reason for coming to China, in addition to serving existing customers, was to seek new sales from new customers in the Far East electronics industry. Participation in shows such as this will prove valuable in helping us meet that goal.'' Nordstrom said the company plans to exhibit and demonstrate its Liquid Crystal intense Display (LCiD(TM)), Liquid Crystal active Drive (LCaD(TM)), and Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCoS(TM)) products at the international event. LCiD(TM) is a patented technology that is replacing old-technology, light-emitting diode (LED) displays with liquid crystal units that provide LED-like color and high visibility in full sunlight, but cost less and require less power. LCaD(TM) is also a Three-Five proprietary technology that uses an advanced electrical drive design technique to control LCDs. The new technology provides a rich, textured graphics quality to applications at a reasonable price. LCoS(TM) is an innovative technology that is enabling the development of an entirely new family of products called ''microdisplays,'' which are expected to create revolutionary visual communications applications in the telecommunications, projection systems and consumer electronics industries over the next several years. Three-Five Systems, Inc. is a recognized leader in the design and manufacture of liquid crystal display (LCD) modules for OEM customers in the communications, medical electronics, industrial process control, wireless data collection and office automation marketplaces. At its Tempe, Arizona headquarters, Three-Five operates the highest volume LCD manufacturing line in North America and a research and development laboratory dedicated to advanced display technologies. The company has developed three proprietary display technologies: LCiD(TM) (Liquid Crystal intense Display), LCaD(TM) (Liquid Crystal active Drive), and LCoS(TM) (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) microdisplays.
