Tried Multiplayer SiN with the new demo version last night.

The Good News:
- It works much better than the original demo version.
- Players start limping around when they are injured. They even start wearing bandages and leg casts!
- Several new, improved deathmatch levels are included. The best one has you running around inside of an oversized study. You are roughly the size of a mouse - even includes a mousehole and a cool mousetrap/catapult.
- No more "bouncing" up the stairs - things stay smooth ala Q2.
- Says it has support for Aureal 3D sound technology, but I didn't notice much difference with it on or off.
- Now fully supports GameSpy.

The Bad News:
- Still fairly jerky, even with ping near 100. This is significant because enemies with body armor require very accurate head shots to kill.
- Rocket Launcher still difficult to use - blast damage area _very_ small.
- Body armor renders pistol and machine gun next to useless (especially with jerkiness/bad ping).

Overall:
Definately a different feel from Quake2. 16-bet textures really enhance the experience. Weapon balance still seems shakey to me, but maybe that will change with more experience. Quake2 is definately smoother though.

Significance:
SiN will definately sell well when it is finally released and should help drive sales of 3Dfx boards this holiday season. SiN's support for multiplayer gaming means it will probably hold gamers attention longer than Unreal has (they are _still_ working on their MP support!). The competition between SiN and Half-Life will be THE big story in gaming for the next couple of months.
