SWY upgraded. "anticipatory upswing" is where you get the best profit... If you do hold through earnings, then do not hold something that has run up on anticipation. That is why I'm thinking of holding COST through earnings. So far I think it's a safe bet. KBH and BBBY were similarly relatively safe bets. I saw that MU was borderline on sunday and true to form, it has reversed. SWY has had an upswing but could come back for more. When an earnings play gets upgraded before the report, its a good thing. SWY is still overbought, it actually had it's upswing but could move again in the two days left before the report. Don't push it, if SWY doesn't come into buy range, then forget it.

A candidate for a seriously beaten down stock that may rebound has to be NT. It's down over 20% since 9/8 while the S&P has staged a decent rally. I don't follow the fundamentals of the stock enough to understand fully what happened, but I suspect the warning from ALA was at least part of the reason, plus, I guess, it's not comfortable being in the same space as LU. Stock got an upgrade this a.m., and there is an analysts' meeting tomorrow that may offer comfort. Depending on the price action over the next couple of days, this one may go into my medium term portfolio. If it behaves.
