OTTOMH(off the top of my head) it would be a disaster.
Not because vlsi and idti would be a bad fit but because
both companies lack the same thing...size.They both will
be eaten up by IBM or TI or ???? within the next year or
so.Merging 2 small guys with lots of infighting and no
real new resources kills em both.YOu need some Big deep
pockets that say hey we own you now and this is what is
going to happen or hit the road.

Hi Shoe, There's also the possible reverse of VLSI using WinChip technology as an imbedded processor. Remember that VLSI once had a license agreement for 386 and 486 from Intel for just this purpose. An interesting idea.

I don't know enough to comment on management styles.
