Hutch : In the absence of the "real" US dollar index, using the SDR as a "dollar index" gives a very good result.

Go to pacific.commerce.ubc.ca
Draw SDR against the Dollar. (Four years, semi-log)

As you see, it gives a very similar result to the dollar index, itself. digisys.net

In fact, it may show the turns even more accurately. The lower "trend support line" is much clearer and the recent penetration is unambiguous.
