A strange day. The market deflated like a spent balloon from about 11 a.m., and when it seemed about to enter its death throes at around 3:30, the tick suddenly began to recover from a negative 600 or so to close at a positive 700. We may get a continuation tomorrow morning? For half an hour, anyway.

Whatever, the market of the past month or so will go down in my books as the great fake-out market. If you can avoid whipsaws, you have a fighting chance.

Jenna, selling your OEX puts at 3:25 was brilliant timing.

Subscribers! It is imperative you follow earnings plays all the way toward October 13 even this week. Don't just look at them as they come up in the newsletter on its report day. Most of you are doing it right, but some of you use the 'earnings plays' like a watch list just looking at one day at a time. Some of stocks have broken out and if you wait too long, they might be overbought by the time they report.

This weekend I'll be working on the October 13-October 19. I do these one week in advance to enable you to chart the stocks and follow them as their price/volume increase triggering 'buy' signals. The strategies for entries/exits are the same any other trading. I have many examples of chart patterns to look for and indicators. I posted some of them on Sunday but have compiled them and added them to our Well-Informed Trader section so it will answer your "FAQS"..

Last weekend after reading all the e-mail, I noted that some chart patterns would be very helpful. I also stress once again look at the newsletter archives and check previous plays.. preferrably against their performance at time of earnings and about 1-2 weeks before earnings and after.. Look especially at INTV, SLR, PRGS,BBBY, PAYX..etc
