"Compaq, seeing the opportunity in Intel chip delays, is preparing to turn up the volume on the beleaguered Alpha processor." -LANTIMES Aug 31, 1998 cover story. It's nice to the the media turn on someone else as "beleaguered" for a change. Perhaps Compaq is the new "beleaguered" computer manufacturer. I've been trying to cheer up some of the folks on the CPQ board who are describing their holdings as "this dog of a stock". Since I've been where they are and worse, I felt compelled to console them and do some Compaq cheerleading. Unfortunately, their group does not seem like the kind to meet for pastrami sandwiches. -Bill_H
