Did any of those Chinese companies have US branches of significant size?

Were there 200mil+ infastructure contracts at stake or just someone wanting a $200 PC or a $1 disk of Madonna?

Somehow I doubt Ericsson would want to set a precedent that would come back to haunt them. (It can be argued that Ericsson has more to lose on existing IPR of their own than to risk the consequences of forceing the 3G argument their way.) You're grabbing at straws again...
