OT == Wow, I can't believe my eyes! Are we actually saying that the celery is better than K6-2? How bad is the FPU unit on K2 to bring this about? How good are the mmx instructions in K2 in contrast? In the days that I actually ran circuit simulation programs, I cared about the FPU a lot, but how important is the FPU compared to MMX for a general purpose computer and a game machine? What about the 3Dfx cooperation and MS support in windows? How do they measure up?

I don't know anything about the celery, but I do know of the original designers of K2 (they were not from AMD. They were from NexGen which was bought out by AMD). Those were some very brilliant engineers and gutsy too. Has AMD damaged their design so badly that the celery stick is now better? Can someone who knows both chips set me right (or point me to the right URL). This is yet another thing that does not compute. Help.

Oh my god! Only up 4.5% today! What's wrong!

;-)

One thing that _is_ wrong is that, as usual, all of the people who were happy to publish stories about TDFX's decline have been silent during its 61.7% rise (from 8) over the past 2 weeks. Sheesh! You'd think that at least the Motley Fool would mention it...
