It was not a good race. You are right, where we finished is a very personal thing :-)

OK, well, the first day we took 11th out of 20-something, but after 11 hours of racing we were only 20 minutes out of first place, it was that close. The problem was, we were in the money until the last 30 minutes, then the wind died and we we just able to drift across the finish line. The boats behind us had to quit, they could not even cross the finish line.

The second day we were in the thick of it until halfway in the race, then the wind died again and we drifted at a knot or so for 2-3 hours. After 12 hours we quit the race and started the engine, still have 4 hours of motoring to get back to annapolis.

But we did have some beautiful sunsets, a great party, played some good reggae music on board, and the worst day under sail is still better than the best day at the office. Besides, tomorrow night is a new race!

RocketMan, thinking sailboat racers sure can come up with excuses :-)
