Why is AMZN such a hot
stock? My lack of confidence in their business makes me hesitate to buy, fearing that sooner or later the
rest of the market will see what I already think is obvious. I must be missing something. Any thoughts?

Steve, since you have reservations about AMZN, *dont* buy the stock. You will be shaken out on the very first shakedown. You need to buy stocks you have confidence in.
I am bullish on AMZN short term. I basically think AMZN is a giant short squeeze; and I suspect it will go to new highs this year, before crashing next year.

surfinSteve, I have always wanted to get into the action with AMZN also. But, like you, I do not trust what they are yet. The reason the thing trades so high on hot air is because people believe that they will be selling more than just books. They plan on being the WalMart of e-commerce. I must wonder if they will pull it off with-out a hitch. In other words, I do think they will pull it off "long Term" but there will be hitches along the way. So, like CMGI if you purchase the stock, trade it. I can't see a "long term hold" on any "internet" stock. Trade and take the money.

Beware there is a chattering monkey on this thread that makes wild predictions and gives out foolish advice on things he knows nothing about. I believe he hitched a ride on a slow boat "from" somewhere far west of here (USA). I envision him as a primate that jumps from chair to chair screaming at and grabbing peanuts form passer-by's. Also, his breath smells. DWW II
