<<OKYO, Sept 29 (Reuters) - Japan's TDK Corp said on Tuesday it would incur a special loss of about eight billion yen in the six-month period to September 30 from delayed redemption of its holdings of bonds linked to short-term Russian government bonds. TDK currently holds 14.3 billion yen worth of such bonds based on book value. They fell due on September 28, but the redemption was delayed due to financial turmoil in Russia.

A TDK spokesman said the company had yet to finalise how much its total losses from the bond holdings would be. He said TDK would set aside loss reserves for about half of the book value of the bond holdings in the first half of 1998/99, and post an additional special loss in the second half once the amount of the total loss was fixed. TDK has no plan at present to revise its earnings estimates for the full year, he said.>>
