Data Broadcasting venture to sell stake

JACKSON, Wyo., Sept 28 (Reuters) - "Data Broadcasting Corp. said Monday MarketWatch.com LLC, its joint venture with CBS Broadcasting Inc. (NYSE:CBS - news), intends to sell a stake in the venture to the public.

Data Broadcasting said in a statement the percentage to be sold has not yet been determined and that a registration should be filed shortly.

The company said, however, that registration of the offering is subject to stock market and other conditions.

Data Broadcasting said it lost $600,000 from the MarketWatch.com joint venture in the fourth quarter. The company said in a statement it expects the losses to grow during fiscal 1999 as the venture expands to increase audience reach on the Internet.
