Practically everyone disagrees with me on Clinton; it takes a lot worse than that to alienate me... Autocratic, well, I guess I'll confess to the occasional bit of that. Pompous is a little harder, though some of the subjects around here - politics and religion - are hard to discuss without a little pomposity setting in. Maybe we should talk about kids. I know exactly what you mean about the fundamental amorality and lack of values found among our cultured cliques. I've occasionally attended diplomatic functions, and seen much the same thing. I've long thought that for all its glories, Western culture has a real tinge of corruption. which I would guess comes from being built on the backs of the downtrodden and unwilling. Suppose you could say the same for all other "great" cultures. Perhaps we need to change our definition of greatness? Never tried to articulate this theory in any logical or defensible way, and probably won't. It would almost certainly be pompous. Steve
