<<What's the word on these guys Freeman Associates? I'm skeptical of any Santa-Barbara
based thinktank purporting to know squat about the storage biz.>>
And I'm skeptical of anyone who thinks removable media could substitute for a DLT drive. By the way, is anyone still following Exabyte? If Mammoth II lives up to claims, EXBT could be very cheap right now.

PX,

Freeman and Assoc pretty much have a lock on tape products IMO. There is DataQuest but Ray Freeman and Bob Abraham are tops in the segment. They used to manage the QIC consortium. Dont know if they still do. And ray Freeman is the partner, along with Jim Porter, who sponsor the Data Storage Conf. held each year in San Jose (about 2 weeks before Diskcon).

Best,
Stitch
