jbe, not to be too touchy, but this paragraph here,

>>There are those that employ the Guilt by Association approach: e.g., "Clinton is a scuzzbag, and if you don't want to impeach him, it must because you are a scuzzbag too"; or (let's be even-handed here) "the religious right fanatics hate Clinton, so if you hate Clinton, you must be a religious right fanatic too."<<

The paragraph implies that someone on the "religious right" is the equivalent of a "scuzzbag" on the left. The ending "you must be a religious right fanatic too" is the so-called even-handed equivalent of the "scuzzbag".

Granted that "fanatic" is generally perjorative in any context, but the rest...hmmm. I guess the reality is that people on the right use the term "liberal" as an insult, so I guess I can't complain too much if others chose to use the expression "religious right" as an insult.

I'm going to sleep now, so 'nite.
