Henry, I am a grateful lurker here. What a fascinating thread and what great contributions you make to it along with many other knowledgeable posters. My compliments. I have been fascinated by the term derivatives since even before the LTC revelations. What scares me is an impression that I have that so called derivatives allow the trading of paper whose face value far exceeds any underlying assets, and which often are non existent. Am I mistaken? A Galbraithian nightmare yes? Best, Stitch
