Incidentally, that excess heat that must be drained off comes at an energy penalty. The design of these laptops would allow roughly a 10% to 20% increase in battery life if they were using a Power PC processor instead of the "Intel inside."

Indeed, the PowerPC edge over Intel is (and will continue to be) particularly pronounced in portable computers and devices.
