" I had looked at them as well, but being a postion trader was not sure I needed that much speed , considering how much it would increase my transaction costs."

If I do 20 trades with MB it costs the same as with Datek. 22 x 20 = $440 + $100 (level II) = $540 Datek 22 x 20 + $300 (L2) = $520. Yes, the price goes up after that but I'll pay for reliable execution.

Now, is the CIEN I was unable to sell in the 16s last week because Datek couldn't execute included in my transaction costs? OK, the DELL I tried to buy for 68 1/2 the other morning that Datek couldn't execute for 11 minutes wouldn't have been such a great trade, but win, lose or draw on the trades should be related to my decision on when to execute, not luck from not being executed.

Another capability of MBT is that you can execute earlier than 9:30. Of course some folks won't trade before 9:30 am. For them, Datek is probably fine. My best trades come from playing the open, and that is Datek's worst time.
